Important transcripts update
VIQ Solutions Pty Limited, one of two providers of recording and transcription services for Queensland Courts and Tribunals, was placed into voluntary administration on 16 March 2026.
The Department of Justice has been advised that VIQ Solutions is winding down services and will no longer provide recording and transcription services to Queensland Courts and Tribunals from 30 June 2026.
We recognise the importance of timely transcription services in supporting fair and equitable access to justice. Alternative service arrangements are in place to minimise disruption to court and tribunal proceedings, however turnaround times may be longer than usual during this period.
Transcripts can continue to be requested through the QTranscripts Portal. We encourage users to request audio recordings rather than a transcript where this is suitable. Where a transcript is required, please allow as much time as possible for turnaround and, where relevant, include a reason for urgency to assist with prioritisation.
QTranscripts is an online platform for requesting audio or transcripts of QCAT proceedings.
Who can order?
Parties to the proceedings or their legal representatives can order audio or transcripts. Upon request other parties (like media, other law firms, or parties not directly involved in the proceeding) may request audio or transcripts, however eligibility requirements must be met.
Please note that all requests must undergo an internal approval process. This may affect the requested turnaround time as the turnaround time does not commence until after the internal process is completed.
