Tree assessment

As part of the QCAT tree dispute resolution process, a QCAT member may order that a tree assessor visit the site of the tree with the applicant and the owner of the neighbouring land.

Tree assessors are qualified arborists who will inspect the tree and any alleged damage. The tree assessor may provide recommendations to QCAT on the most efficient and fair resolution of the tree dispute.

The tree assessor is a neutral party providing an expert opinion and may be used as an expert witness during any QCAT proceedings.

Descriptions of QCAT's jurisdiction on this website are general information only. They do not definitively describe the types of applications on which QCAT can make decisions. The relevant legislation determines QCAT's jurisdiction. If you are unsure about your legal rights, you should seek legal advice. Your individual circumstances should guide any actions taken to resolve your dispute.
