Overhanging branches and debt disputes

From 1 November 2011 the Neighbourhood Disputes Resolution Act 2011 provides new options for dealing with minor overhanging branches between neighbouring properties.

For more information on your options on providing your neighbour with a notice to seek cutting or removing of overhanging branches visit www.neighbourhooddisputes.qld.gov.au

If you are unable to resolve a dispute about payment for the cutting and removal of overhanging branches, you may apply to QCAT to recover up to $300 as a minor debt dispute.

Any description of QCAT's jurisdiction on this website is general information only and is not intended to precisely define the types of applications that QCAT has the power to decide. QCAT's jurisdiction is determined by the relevant legislation. If you are unsure about your legal rights you should seek legal advice. Any actions taken to resolve your dispute should be determined by your individual circumstances.
