Who can help me?

A number of people can help you work out what to do when you are thinking about having a decision made by the department or commission looked at again.

For general questions and completing the application form you can talk to:

QCAT support officers

The staff at QCAT will explain how everything works, what you can expect and answer questions about the process. They cannot give legal information. They can be contacted on 1300 753 228.

Legal information and representation

You can ring Legal Aid Queensland on 1300 65 11 88 and make arrangements for a legal information session. Or you can contact a lawyer who does not work for Legal Aid Queensland. As a child you are automatically entitled to have legal representation and can appoint someone at any time.

Other help

Other agencies such as Foster Care Queensland may be able to help you discuss your concerns, complete the application form and other paper work.

Any description of QCAT's jurisdiction on this website is general information only and is not intended to precisely define the types of applications that QCAT has the power to decide. QCAT's jurisdiction is determined by the relevant legislation. If you are unsure about your legal rights you should seek legal advice. Any actions taken to resolve your dispute should be determined by your individual circumstances.
